About Dr. Ryan Shephard
Dr. Ryan Shephard remains committed to helping his patients get back to active in the most conservative and healthy way possible. In this day and age, especially when it comes to injury and pain management, too much of the medical profession is concerned with pain suppression.
However, there is a lot we can do as far as diet and best recovery practices that will set us up to have a top-notch recovery, putting us back in the position we were before injury, and also helping us avoid certain pitfalls of pain management, which include but is never limited to possible drug abuse and drug dependency.
As you progress toward recovery, it’s important to have a dedicated team of professionals overseeing your treatment and helping you incorporate a progressive rehabilitation and pain management protocol.
Dr. Ryan Shephard’s expertise spans decades. He earned his undergraduate degree from Alma College in Michigan and graduated with honors, majoring in Exercise and Health Sciences in 2006. He’s continued to cultivate his interest in health, wellness, exercise, pain management, and injury rehabilitation.
In 2010 Dr. Shephard earned his Medical Degree from MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and finished his residency in Orthopedic Surgery from McLaren Macomb in Mt. Clemens, MI in 2015.
Dr Shephard has also studied and participated with international medical experiences in San Jose, Costa Rica (Central America), and Blantyre, Malawi (Southeastern Africa).
Since then, Dr. Shephard has helped countless patients get back to active in healthy, manageable, and lasting ways.
Dr. Shepard has 3 children (2 sons, 1 daughter) and enjoys an active lifestyle himself where he and his family engage in outdoor activities like skiing, ATV riding, soccer, kayaking, and swimming. He also enjoys music and singing and is active in his local church and community choir — he enjoys playing many instruments such as guitar, saxophone, and the drums.
